School Nutrition

Good nutrition is essential to the health and success of our students and staff. All meals, food items, and beverages sold or served at East Hampton Schools exceed state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. For our students, East Hampton provides nutritious meals that meet the regulations contained in the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 as well as updated meal pattern requirements and nutrition standards as promulgated by the USDA National School Lunch and Breakfast Program and the Connecticut Department of Education’s School Nutrition Program. For parents, the program offers a convenient method of providing a nutritionally balanced breakfast and lunch at the lowest price possible. The East Hampton program’s goal is to operate a financially self-sustaining department while promoting health and wellness within our school community where our parents, children, and staff can be enriched and enjoy excellent customer service.

During this difficult time, many households may be experiencing hardships due to the loss of a job or income, and they may now be eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. SNAP helps people buy food for themselves and their families. Additionally, eligibility for SNAP benefits means that a child will be directly certified for free meals, which will carry over for 30 operating days into the next school year. Please click on the link below to access the SNAP website.
