I hope this update finds everyone in good health and enjoying the warmer weather this summer. With the first day of school only a few weeks away (August 28th), I am providing this mid-summer update so you can fully enjoy the remaining weeks of the 2025 Summer Vacation.
On August 15, all four schools will be sending their welcome back to school packets by mail. This mailing will contain information pertaining to classroom placements, student schedules, bus routes, cafeteria information, and other important school communications. Over the next two weeks, the administration will be finalizing these important details as we make our preparations for the start of another successful school year.
As a parent, I recognize how challenging the beginning of the school year can be with so many events occurring at the same time. Therefore, I've included a link below that provides you with a listing of important August and September school events. Hopefully, receiving this in advance will help with early planning.
After recently seeing the Costco and Target receipts of my college-bound children, I want to remind our families that "2025 Connecticut Sales Tax Free Week" is right around the corner (August 17 - 23). For more information visit CT Sales Tax Free Week.
Lastly, I would like to thank our administration, office secretaries, Extended School Year (ESY) faculty and staff, technology department, school counselors, custodians, cafeteria workers, athletic directors and coaches for their tremendous efforts over the past seven weeks.
Enjoy the final weeks of the Summer of 2025!
In partnership,
Dr. Van Tasel
Superintendent of Schools
