On Friday and Saturday March 4 and 5, EHMS Band student Kaitlynn Johnston and EHMS Chorus Students Ella Briggs and Grace Pekar performed in the annual Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) Southern Region Middle School Music Festival. The CMEA Southern Region Middle School music festival is an annual music festival held in March, featuring band, chorus, orchestra, and jazz band ensembles that rehearse, and then perform challenging songs that are conducted by a talented conductor. Music students from over 25 school districts are represented at the festival. Students that participate in their school’s ensemble were invited to audition back in December. Kaitlynn, Ella, and Grace’s audition score results qualified them to participate in the festival. Congratulations to Kaitlynn, Ella, and Grace!

Students learned about Lunar New Year by putting together an incredible display in the library these past weeks. Mr. Smith contributed many interesting items from his travels to China. We were thrilled to have him visit and talk about our "sister" school, JianHua, in Bejing. The paper lantern display showcases the hopes of students for the new year.
