The Special Education department offers academic support for students with special needs. The Special Education department is committed to providing services to students based on an inclusionary model. Classroom modifications are made for students as specified by individualized educational programs. Whenever possible, classes are collaboratively taught by regular and special education teachers.
The department provides individual support in the small group setting of a Learning Resource Center. Specific classes are offered to strengthen skills such as mathematics, reading and writing. Transitional skills are developed through a Vocational Skills class that explores post-secondary education and career options and a Life Skills class that develops independent living skills.
Opportunities are also available for students to engage in school and community-based work experience.
