Welcome to the East Hampton Public Schools and thank you for visiting the Memorial School website.
By visiting this website, you have taken a first step in being an active participant in your child(ren)’s education. I encourage all parents to engage in and monitor their child(ren)’s progress by accessing all that we have to offer here at Memorial School.
I am proud to be a member of the Memorial family by serving as Principal in a district that strives to prepare and inspire students to be innovative and responsible contributing members of an ever-changing global society. It is an honor and privilege to be Principal at Memorial and I recognize what a great responsibility I have in leading this distinguished community of learners. I lead by motivating and supporting our staff and students to grow their mindsets and to strive for greatness. I look forward to helping others learn and grow through sustained effort and engagement. Please know that working with young children is my passion and that you will get my best effort each and every school day!
I am excited to share our goals for the 2019-2020 school year!
Now that the dispositions of our Profile of the Graduate have been woven into the fabric of our school, we look forward to further infusing them into our school culture, and utilizing these characteristics to drive curriculum, instruction, and assessment in every classroom. To achieve this we will develop specific Profile of the Graduate lessons and provide guaranteed learning experiences in each subject.
We will also aim to grow our classroom instructional practices with a focus on purposefully designed experiences to meet the individual learning needs of each student. After years of practice with Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop instruction, we look to integrate this personalized learning model into mathematics. In the workshop model, we will best be able to meet the needs of each learner by having focused mini lessons with specific teaching points, designing strategic small group activities, and using ongoing, formative assessments to adjust instruction.
As life-long learners and in the spirit of continuous improvement, the teaching team at Memorial will make efforts to enhance our instructional data team practices. Each grade level or department has a dedicated time during the week where we collaborate and engage in conversations regarding teaching and learning. We will add to our current data collection and analysis practices and protocols, with a focus this year on reflecting on actual student work. From the careful examination of the student work samples, we will develop action plans to improve instruction and learning.
I look forward to partnering with you. Please stop in to see me or give me a call at any time 860-365-4020.
